Guide to Wheel Alignment
Did You Know?
90% of cars on the roads today suffer from some sort of mis-alignment.
58% of cars suffer mis-alignment on the rear wheels – so by just having a front alignment / Tracking / Toe & Go, it will not detect or solve the whole problem.
The average car is driven about 12,000 miles per year. A car with a toe alignment, just 0.34 degrees out specification , has dragged its tyre sideways for more than 68 miles by the end of the year.
If the tyres last that long!
What Everyone Should Know About Four Wheel Alignment
Four Wheel Alignment – The Essential Service!
Having a four wheel alignment check should be part of any responsible motorists serving procedure. By having your vehicle checked annually or every 12,000 – 15,000 miles you can:
- Ensure Safer Driving
Mis-alignment can affect handling and can make the car unsafe. A suspension system inspection is part of the alignment procedure; this will help highlight any worn or damaged parts before they cause a more costly problem.
- Prevent Excessive Tyre Wear
Mis-alignment is a major cause of unnecessary tyre and wear. It is not always possible to actually see if a vehicle is out of alignment and by the time you do see the wear its too late, the damage is done! A properly aligned car can add thousands of miles to tyre life.
- Reduce Fuel Consumption
Fuel consumption decreases as rolling resistance decreases. A proper four wheel alignment along with correct tyre pressure minimises the rolling resistance.
- Improve Handling
Does your car pull to one side? Do you constantly have to move the steering wheel to keep your car travelling straight ahead?
Many handling problems can be corrected by four wheel alignment. With all the system components aligned properly, road shock is more efficiently absorbed for a smoother ride. Enjoy that new car feel!
- Save Money and the Environment
By preventing premature tyre wear (and early tyre disposal) improving fuel economy and minimising carbon emissions, its not only reduces the cost of motoring, but will help the environment too!
What should I expect from a Hunter Four Wheel Alignment Service here at MyAlloys Ltd?
Using the world’s leading wheel alignment technology MyAlloys can deliver fast measurement times, with accurate, repeatable results offering a superior wheel alignment service.
Our brand new Hunter Elite TD is the most powerful wheel aligner available to workshops today. Four precision cameras take live readings of the position and orientation of the 3D targets, mounted to each wheel using Hunter’s patented QuickGrip® adaptors which are not only robust and lightweight, they come with spring-loaded arms that grip the tyre, avoiding metal-to-metal contact and therefore eliminating any rim damage…something we take very seriously here at MyAlloys!
Our Hunter Elite TD imaging wheel alignment system measures 14 primary alignment angles. These include camber, caster, thrust line and set back and of course, toe in or toe out on front and rear wheels. Comparisons are then made against the vehicle manufacturers’ data, for your specific car.
The initial measurements should take no more than 15-25 minutes. The alignment technician will then be able to discuss with you the findings and which adjustments are necessary.
When the alignment adjustments are complete, you will be presented with your personalised printouts in graphical, technical or interactive email formats, showing the ‘before and after’ measurements. This is your guarantee that the work has been carried out to your satisfaction and should be kept with your vehicle servicing records.
We know that everyone is busy so if you would like us to send you a free reminder either by text or email when your next alignment service is due please fill in the form here. No pressure to book with MyAlloys…just a quick reminder to let you know its due.
